Reds Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
When it comes to handling adversity, manager Dusty Baker says rookie right-hander Johnny Cueto has gotten better, but there's still room for improvement. Cueto, 22, showed that Thursday in Cincinnati's 10-8 loss to New York. Every time a Met reached base on a hit or walk, the youngster started fidgeting on and off the mound. Every first walk or hit in an inning was followed by another hit or two—including two home runs—as New York reached him for six runs in 5 1/3 innings. "He's come in and out of that," Baker said of the Dominican Republic native. "He's very, very competitive, but he's only 22 and he has that fiery Latin personality. That can be his best friend and his worst nemesis at the same time. "He's gotten a lot better.
