Right-hander Jeremy Accardo was the savior for the Jays last year when he filled in for the injured B.J. Ryan and recorded 35 saves.

This year, Accardo has been mostly missing in action as he has been on the disabled list with a forearm injury since May 9.

Recovery from his problem has been slow and frustrating for the reliever, who Friday was with his teammates in Anaheim after flying to Los Angeles to be checked out by surgeon Dr. Lewis Yocum.

"I'm here just to try to get some peace of mind, to hear him tell me it's not the ligament and that I can just start letting it go," Accardo said. "I'm just a little timid, a little shy to really release it.

It's not often that Willie Bloomquist is in the position to win a ball game with his bat for the Seattle Mariners. He took instant advantage of his chance. Bloomquist hit the first pitch from Shawn Camp for a game-winning single in the ninth-inning that scored Raul Ibanez from second base as the Mariners rallied from four runs down to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-6 on Tuesday night.

Halladay pitched his 10th career shutout, dominating the Seattle Mariners and limiting them to just four singles in Toronto's 2-0 win, the Blue Jays' third straight victory.

With his curveball diving and his fastball topping out at 96 miles per hour, A.J. Burnett made life easy on catcher Rod Barajas, and rough on the undermanned Atlanta Braves. Burnett pitched seven shutout innings, Alex Rios drove in the only run of the game and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Braves 1-0 on Sunday.

It's not often that Atlanta's Tim Hudson gives up a home run. When he does, he usually loses. Hudson surrendered homers to Vernon Wells and Rod Barajas and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Braves 9-5 on Saturday, dropping Hudson to 1-5 this season when he gives up a home run. Wells, who had three RBIs, led off Toronto's four-run sixth with his eighth homer of the year.
