OKC signs Miles to offer sheet (AP)

Oklahoma City has signed restricted free agent guard C.J. Miles to an offer sheet. Oklahoma city general manager Sam Presti announced the move on Friday. Under terms of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, Miles' current team, the Utah Jazz, has seven days to match the multiyear offer. Miles was the 34th player chosen in the 2005 draft, selected by Utah out of Skyline High School in Dallas.

Point guard Deron Williams signed a contract extension with Utah on Friday that will keep him with the Jazz through at least the 2011-12 season. Williams, who still had one year left on the rookie contract he signed after the Jazz picked him third overall in the 2005 NBA draft, signed a three-year deal with a one year option.

Unlike the New Orleans Hornets, who moved quickly to complete a contract extension with Chris Paul at the start of the free agent negotiating period in July, the Jazz have not been gripped by the same urgency with Deron Williams.

It has nothing to do with any lack of interest on the Jazz's part at ensuring Williams stays put in Utah for the foreseeable future. But with Williams vacationing in Mexico, the Jazz did not meet with the star guard and his representatives until July 9.

Williams came out of the meeting with general manager Kevin O'Connor saying he believed they would agree to an extension in a matter of days. But Williams also expressed some concerns about the Jazz's future direction.

The Utah Jazz signed first-round pick Kosta Koufos on Thursday to a contract that will pay him around $1 million a year. Utah drafted the 19-year-old center from Ohio State with the 23rd pick last month. Koufos played one season with the Buckeyes, then decided to leave school for the NBA. Koufos will play for Utah's summer league team in the Rocky Mountain Revue, which the Jazz host July 18-25.
