Florida charges against Lions' Pearson dropped (AP)
Domestic violence charges against Detroit Lions safety Kalvin Pearson have been dropped, the Hillsborough County state attorney's office said Monday. Pearson, who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2005-07, was arrested April 26 and charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and domestic battery by strangulation, both felonies.

Sims held out of Lions practice after injury (AP)
Lions linebacker Ernie Sims missed Sunday's afternoon practice with injuries to his right leg. Sims said he "landed funny" during a morning drill but walked off the field after the practice session ended. Trainer Dean Kleinschmidt said the third-year veteran suffered a hyperextended knee and sprained ankle, but did not believe the injuries were serious.

The Detroit Lions signed cornerback Leigh Bodden to a four-year contract extension and also signed second-round pick Jordon Dizon on Friday. Caleb Campbell said he was upset when the Army told him he wouldn't be able to play for the Detroit Lions this season. "Oh yeah, I cried, because I wanted a shot," Campbell, a seventh-round draft pick of the Lions, told The Oakland Press of Pontiac for a story published Thursday. Cherilus agrees to contract with Lions (AP)
Tackle Gosder Cherilus agreed to terms on a five-year contract with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday night. Cherilus was the 17th pick in April's draft out of Boston College. He is expected to play right tackle for the Lions after being a left tackle in 2007. Final details on the contract were not set, but Greg Diulus, Cherilus' agent, said an agreement was in place and could be finalized Thursday.
