• Quarterback Josh McCown may have far more experience than fellow Dolphins quarterbacks John Beck and rookie Chad Henne with his 31 career starts, but his decision-making away from the field has to be questioned after nearly having the index finger of his throwing hand cut off by a chainsaw a few weeks ago. Fortunately for McCown he only needed six stitches to sew up the digit and will be ready to compete for the starting job with Beck and Henne when training camp opens on July 26. Henne referred to McCown as his, "mentor," recently. The injury happened when McCown and his brother, Tampa Bay quarterback Luke McCown, were trying to clear brush and tree stumps surrounding the family's lakefront home in Jacksonville, Texas. A brush with a chain saw two weeks ago left McCown with a cut on the index finger of his throwing hand that required six stitches.
