Vikings Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

•  With quarterback Brett Favre and the Packers seemingly headed for an ugly split, speculation has been that the veteran would be an ideal fit for the Vikings offense.

The 38-year-old played in an almost identical West Coast system to what the Vikings employ when Mike Sherman coached the Packers, and Favre also is good friends with Minnesota offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. Bevell spent six seasons on the Packers coaching staff, including the final three (2003-05) as the team's quarterbacks coach.

Favre talk? Not for Vikings (AP)

In this July 28, 2007 file photo, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is shown at the NFL football team's training camp in Mankato, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings declined Thursday July 27, 2008 to talk about allegations by the Green Bay Packers that they made inappropriate contact with quarterback Brett Favre. A person familiar with the Packers' complaint, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said Packers officials believe Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell had discussions with Favre that would violate league rules.

The Minnesota Vikings took a different stance on Thursday in what has become the story of the summer in the NFL: They decided NOT to talk about Brett Favre. The Vikings said Thursday they would not comment on allegations by the Green Bay Packers that they made inappropriate contact with Favre before or during the three-time MVP's effort to un-retire.

Let Favre's next retirement be less tearful (AP)

The tears alone were worthy of a spot in the Hall of Fame. Brett Favre shed them, and all of Wisconsin cried along with him. The rest of the country got a bit teary-eyed, too, and who could blame us. His storybook run to the Super Bowl may have come up just short, but Favre had given us one last great season to remember.
