•  The Raiders spent much of the offseason on a spending spree, but decided against backing up an armored car full of cash for exclusive franchise free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.

Asomugha won't be going to the poor house—he'll earn approximately $9.7 million guaranteed the moment he signs his tender.

Still, the smart money is on Asomugha not signing the tender and reporting to camp on time, making it clear that he isn't thrilled with being franchised, even though he could make nearly $22 million over the next two seasons should the Raiders franchise him a second time in 2009.

Should that happen, Asomugha would be due a 20 percent hike in pay, as per free agency rules, as a two-time franchise free agent.

The Oakland Raiders and star cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha failed to agree on a long-term contract before Tuesday's deadline for franchised players. The Raiders placed the exclusive franchise tag on Asomugha in February, which guaranteed Asomugha more than $9 million in 2008 and did not allow him to negotiate with any other team.

Raiders sign Keller, waive Meyer (AP)

The Oakland Raiders signed former Nebraska quarterback Sam Keller to a contract Wednesday and waived quarterback Erik Meyer. Keller was not drafted despite setting a school record last season by completing 63.1 percent of his passes for 2,422 yards and 14 touchdowns in nine games. But his season ended prematurely when he suffered a shoulder injury against Texas in October.

Police: Walker went 'willingly' with Vegas robbers (AP)

One man was arrested and a second was sought Tuesday in a robbery and beating that left Oakland Raiders receiver Javon Walker unconscious on a side street after a long night of partying at Las Vegas nightclubs. Police said Arfat Fadel, of Las Vegas, was accused of multiple felonies, including kidnapping, robbery, battery and conspiracy in a June 16 robbery.
