•  The Lito Sheppard situation just got a whole lot more interesting. With the start of training camp just days away, the unhappy cornerback has fired his longtime agents Lamont Smith and Peter Schaffer and replaced them with—drum roll, please—Drew Rosenhaus.

The oft-injured Sheppard is unhappy with his contract, which still has four years to run and will earn him just $2 million this season, a paltry sum compared to many of the league's other top cornerbacks. He has asked to be traded, but so far, the team has not received an offer that has been to their liking.

Sheppard and Sheldon Brown have been the Eagles' starting cornerbacks for the last four seasons.

NFL hires Pa. police chief for security job (AP)

In this Monday, Oct. 2, 2006 file photo, State Police commissioner Jeffrey Miller makes remarks at a news conference in Nickel Mines, Pa.  Miller, who guided the agency through the Amish schoolhouse murders, will leave to direct the NFL's strategic security program.

The NFL hired Pennsylvania's state police chief for a new position that will cover all aspects of stadium security from fan behavior to signal stealing. But Col. Jeffrey Miller, who begins work as director of strategic security Aug. 18, said Tuesday there was far more to the job than ensuring no repeat of the episode last year involving the New England Patriots.
